Doing business under the wavy economic condition with the declining growth rate was an uphill task and was undoubtedly a hurdle in operating our company smoothly.
But with our adaptability in running our business, expansion of our market base and creation of new models of insurance policies, our performance in 2006 was gratifying. This was indicated by the facts that the total premiums reached 24,775 million Baht and the number of our policyholders increased to 2,889,879 with the total sum insured of 440,153
million Baht.
With regard to our financial status, 2006 was another year that we could continue to maintain our strength. Our life insurance reserves expanded to 93,636 million Baht, representing 7% increase over 2005. Our total surplus grew to 9,179 million Baht, 8% more than the amount required by the Insurance Act. Our assets increased 8% from 2005 to the amount of 110,873 million Baht.
Apart from our satisfactory performance, 2006 was another prestigious year for Thai Life Insurance. We were awarded as the Best Managed Life Insurance Award by the Insurance Department of the Ministry of Commerce. As we have been selected as the first-Grade Best Managed Life |
Insurance Award for four consecutive years, Thai Life Insurance is the only Life insurance company to be awarded the highest prize.
All our successes in 2006 actually resulted from the knowledge and capability of all of our staff. They dedicated to secure our company as the life insurance leader. I would like to convey my sincere thanks for their perseverance. I am quite confident that Thai Life Insurance staff will continue to work together in furthering the progress of our company, in taking care of the lives of Thai people, in producing maximum benefits to our clients, and in restoring our faithfulness to the society.
